How relevant are the NETs for Teachers and Administrators to being a "Good Educator" today?
I think being a good educator starts with a passion for education and a yearning for continued personal growth. In education, we have standards for a lot of different things: standards for each of our subjects, such as reading, science, math and so on...so why would technology be any different? Some might argue that technology is so diverse and difficult to encapsulate that we simply take students where they are at and push on from there.
I think as technology continues to grow, so should we.
Are the NETs for teachers and admin. relevent? Sure they are. A 'good teacher' who continues to grow professionally will know what he/she has to do to ensure students are continuing to be challenged with technology, among other areas. The NETs help to direct teachers and provide an outline to assist in the delivery of what good teachers do: effective teaching.
